Iraq: Withdrawal Hinges on Talking With Iraq's Neighbors
The House will have two opportunities in the next three weeks to insist on a
new U.S. policy in Iraq. FCNL will be lobbying for an integrated strategy
that includes a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops, support for
negotiations among Iraq's warring factions, U.S. support for a regional
peace process that includes all of Iraq's neighbors, and substantial U.S.
financial support for the stabilization and reconstruction of Iraq. Read

Iraq: What Does $456 Billion Buy?
<http://www.fcnl.org/images/budget/stack-of-money.jpg>
By September, the cost of the Iraq war may have reached $456 billion,
according to the National Priorities Project. Boston.com looks at what
<http://capwiz.com/fconl/utr/1/OKXOHCVKXV/HPQAHCVRGE/1180789131> else that
money could buy and lets you submit your suggestions.
Resource: The Cost of a Global Warming Fix
An international scientific panel this month put a price tag on what it
would take to avoid the worst effects of global warming, concluding that the
effort would be affordable and would be partially offset by economic and
other benefits. Read a summary
<http://capwiz.com/fconl/utr/1/OKXOHCVKXV/KLWRHCVRGF/1180789131> of the
report on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
FCNL Annual Meeting: November 8-11, 2007
Next year is a critical year for peace -- what can we accomplish in
Washington? Can we make the 2008 elections a referendum on peace? Hear
first-hand reports on FCNL's peace agenda, energy conservation policy
options, and federal spending priorities. Find
<http://capwiz.com/fconl/utr/1/OKXOHCVKXV/LMMGHCVRGG/1180789131> out how to

Grassroots Action: Build Your Own Cluster Bomb
This origami cluster bomb can help you educate your community about the
danger cluster bombs pose to civilians in countries all over the world.
Print out copies of this PDF

<http://www.fcnl.org/images/img_logo_pdf.gif> and invite your friends to
make cluster bomb paper folds with you. Then "drop" them at a public event
or meeting to spread the word about these indiscriminate and inhumane
weapons.
After you choose to print the PDF, look for the page scaling option (under
the page handling heading) and change it to "None" for best results.
FCNL in the News: How Much Can We Spend on Protection From Others? (Atlanta
Journal-Constitution)
"What kind of society do they want to live in 20, 40, 60 years from now? If
they want to live in a peaceful society, what values would a society at
peace express in its expenditures? And what would constitute peace?"
- Betty Jean Craige, in an opinion
<http://capwiz.com/fconl/utr/1/OKXOHCVKXV/DHWMHCVRGI/1180789131> column that
draws on FCNL's figures on the percent of our tax dollars going to the
military.
