If you don't see candidate responses for your district, call them and ask them why they didn't respond and find out where they stand on the specifics of our legislative agenda for next year! Doing a statewide Voter Guide (we focussed primarily on state legislative races) is a massive undertaking and a handful of dedicated volunteers contacted all candidates for 150 Texas House races plus some Senate races. Many chose to dodge the issue, because they do NOT want to commit to ANYTHING in writing. Don't let them wiggle out of it!

            MPO LIED TO CITIZENS, NOW 

            MANDATING EXTENDING BOUNDARIES INTO COMAL COUNTY/HILL COUNTRY
            MPO to VOTE on boundary change Oct 27!

            The bad guys are always working against the citizens regardless of the breathtaking financial crisis we're all facing and despite the fact most Americans' top priorities are hanging onto their jobs and homes. Only months ago we fought to STOP changes in the bylaws that would allow the SAMPO to extend its boundaries to gobble up the Hill Country. The Exec Dir of SAMPO promised the bylaw change wouldn't mandate the extension or force Comal or other counties to join SAMPO. Well, they lied because in a closed door meeting last Monday, they now claim the feds are mandating the extension. We think that's baloney! We're asking them to site where in the law it requires Comal to join. The law allows Comal to start their own MPO.

            Comal County residents don't want to be engulfed by the pro-toll San Antonio MPO (SAMPO) any more than San Antonians want small town Mayors having an equal vote with representatives of metro areas. SAMPO wants extra votes from small areas so they can easily strong arm them into voting to toll metro areas in exchange for hard to secure funding for road improvements in rural areas. Yet we all know that since most of Comal residents commute into San Antonio for work, we'll ALL pay tolls no matter if it ultimately crosses county lines! Extending MPO boundaries means EVERYONE has less say over their own local transportation decisions.

            Contact Comal County Commissioners, the New Braunfels City Council, Garden Ridge City Council, and the Bulverde City Council in one email here: ListenComal at TexasTURF.org

            Ask them to say "NO" to joining the San Antonio MPO. Tell them YOU DO NOT WANT ANY PART of the pro-toll SAMPO shoving toll roads down our throats and making transportation decisions for us. We can form our own MPO! Joining SAMPO is tantamount to a vote FOR toll roads!

            Bexar County residents... 

            Contact Bexar County Commissioners, the San Antonio City Council, and San Antonio MPO members in one email here: Listen at TexasTURF.org

            Ask them to vote "NO" to extending the San Antonio MPO boundary. Tell them YOU DO NOT WANT San Antonio taking on the Hill Country's transportation costs!
