Dear Chronicle Viewpoints:



It is sad that the number of murder-suicides in the Houston area has
doubled in the Houston area since 2013.  What jumped out for me was that
92% of the perpetrators are male and that 88% of the deadly incidents
involved firearms.

It is clear that women are the victims and that almost all of them were
shot to death by firearms.  My conclusion is that women who live with men
who have firearms are putting their lives in danger.  Smart women should
demand that all guns be removed from the home to bring a measure of safety
to their lives.  An available gun in the home when the man becomes high,
angry, jealous or depressed leads to unnecessary tragedies.
