We recognize the power of TV and media images, and that's why this is such a big deal.

Color Of Change members helped stop this KKK documentary from normalizing and humanizing racism.

Help us continue continue this important work throughout 2017.

Color Of Change members have already raised an amazing $58,571 of our $150,000 end-of-year fundraising goal. See our latest message below and help us close the gap<https://act.colorofchange.org/go/7172?t=3&akid=6626.1652262.Isxs3z>!

Dear Anne,

Against a backdrop of increasing white nationalism, the A&E network recently announced plans to air a documentary series that would have given Ku Klux Klan members an uninterrupted, televised pulpit from which to preach hate. But thanks in part to the pressure from Color Of Change members and conversations the Color Of Change team had with the network, A&E just announced important fixes to the show. These fixes will stop the show from normalizing and humanizing racism and white supremacy.

Moving powerful institutions to make a more humane world for Black people is what Color Of Change does every day, every week, and every month of the year. And with the rising threat to our communities from Donald Trump and his racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic platform, our work is more important now than ever. That’s why as the end of the year approaches, we’re making a special effort to reach out to supporters like you to ask for your help in funding this important work throughout 2017.

Commit to making an automatic, recurring monthly contribution of $3 or more now to help continue our fight through 2017.<https://act.colorofchange.org/go/7172?t=4&akid=6626.1652262.Isxs3z>

Can’t contribute $3 every month? Make a one-time contribution of $20 today to help reach our $150,000 goal by the end of the year.<https://act.colorofchange.org/go/7171?t=5&akid=6626.1652262.Isxs3z>

Black communities know all too well how perpetuating stereotypes and hateful rhetoric can empower a racist and violent agenda. A&E’s documentary was originally meant to be innocuously titled “Generation KKK.” But the network is now taking seriously our concerns about the show and has retitled it “Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America.” A&E has also recognized that the show required additional components, such as specific in-show educational context and content and a post-show town hall.

At Color Of Change, we recognize the power of TV and media images, and our work is rooted in creating a less harmful and hostile world for Black people and all people. We’ll continue working closely with A&E on programming that articulates the network's intention of reversing racial hatred and violence, as well as finding ways to work with A&E and anyone else to end the rise of white supremacy and the hateful and violent tactics of the organizations that advance this ideology.

We may have won important changes to this documentary from A&E, but with Trump’s inauguration still weeks away, the threat is rising. We must have the budget to keep fighting against the hatred and bigotry that damages us and our communities.

Contribute your first installment today, and commit to an automatic, recurring monthly contribution of $3 or more in 2017 to help Color Of Change keep fighting for our communities.<https://act.colorofchange.org/go/7172?t=6&akid=6626.1652262.Isxs3z>

In 2017 Color Of Change is committed to building a real opposition to Donald Trump and racism in all its forms. With help from supporters like you, we will succeed.

Until Justice is real,

Brian, Brandi, Rashad, Arisha, Bernard, Anika, Jade, Evan, Corina, and the rest of the Color Of Change team
