CHAPTER 40: DESTROYING LIBYA FOR ITS OIL
In 2011, a combined force of insurgents on the ground and NATO bombing from the sky killed thirty thousand Libyans and violently overthrew Colonel Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gadhafi who headed Africa's most affluent nation. This champion of African independence had warned of the danger posed by Islamic rebels, including Al Qaeda's North African affiliate operating in eastern Libya. His warnings were ignored.
Under the Libyan leader’s rule (1969-2011), the world’s largest irrigation project was mounted in a desert nation slightly bigger than Alaska. Under Gadhafi, infant mortality dropped from 125 per 1000 live births to 15, the lowest in Africa; and literacy went from 25% to 83%. Medical care and education were free, resulting in 25% of the population having university degrees. If specialized care was unavailable, one received $2,300 per month to go abroad for accommodations, as well as a car allowance. If one could not find a job, the state would pay the average salary of that vocation until employment was found.
There were no electricity bills, and no interest on loans because the banks were government-owned. A portion of oil revenues was placed in every citizen’s bank account. Libya had no government deficit, but its $150 billion in assets abroad were frozen by European and U.S banks after their governments attacked that sovereign state. Fifty per cent of the cost to purchase a car was provided. Gas was 14 cents per liter and 40 loaves of bread cost 15 cents.
Having a home was considered a human right so all newlyweds received $50 thousand to buy their first residence. Anyone who wished to farm would receive land, a farmhouse, equipment, seeds and livestock—all free.
All of this was accomplished without representative government. Colonel Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gadhafi explained it this way in his Green Book (1975): "No representation of the people—representation is a falsehood. The mere existence of parliaments underlies the absence of the people, for democracy can only exist with the presence of the people and not in the presence of representatives of the people. " His stance was diametrically opposed to James Madison, "The Father of the U.S. Constitution."
Western oil greed and arrogant refusal to live in a multilateral world destroyed this path-breaking national project. British Foreign Secretary William Hague summed up London's position when he stressed the “terrible consequences [for] the price of oil …we can’t stand aside.” [1]
In October 2011, President Obama's Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gloated, "We came, we saw, he died." She characterized as a "victory lap" the NATO air strikes that destroyed Libya's air defense system. Close confidante Sidney Blumenthal emailed her on April 2, 2011 to outline the reasons for Gadhafi's brutal torture- murder on October 20 and the destruction of the Libyan state. It reads in part:
Qaddafi's government held 143 tons of gold, and a similar amount in silver. The gold was accumulated prior to the current rebellion and was intended to be used to create a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar. The plan was designed to provide the Francophone African Countries with an alternative to the French franc.
According to knowledgeable individuals this quantity of gold and silver is valued at more than $7 billion. French intelligence discovered this plan shortly after the current rebellion began, and this was one of the factors that influenced President Nicolas Sarkozy's decision to commit France to the attack on Libya. According to these individuals Sarkozy's plans are driven by the following issues:
1. A desire to gain a greater share of Libya oil production,
2. Increase French influence in North Africa,
3. Improve his internal political situation in France,
4. Provide the French military with an opportunity to reassert its position in the world,
5. Address the concern of his advisors over Quaddafi's long term plans to supplant France as the dominant power in Francophone Africa[2]
One racially divisive consequence of Gadhafi's ouster was the targeting of black Africans. They were systematically rounded up and murdered whether they worked for the government or not. Blumenthal reported this fact to Clinton on March 27, 2011. Many black Africans regarded the Libyan leader as a champion of African development, who opposed the Western imperialist powers and the extortionist banking practices of the International Monetary Fund. Of course, it goes without saying that executing prisoners of war is a war crime.
Brad Hoff of the Levant Report wrote, "historians of the 2011 NATO war in Libya will be sure to notice a few of the truly explosive confirmations contained in the new emails: admissions of rebel war crimes, special ops trainers inside Libya from nearly the start of the protests, Al Qaeda embedded in the U.S. backed opposition, Western nations jockeying for access to Libyan oil, the nefarious origins of the absurd Viagra mass rape claim, and concern over Gaddafi's gold and silver reserves threatening European currency."[3]
By late July 2014, the militia wars were so intense that Washington evacuated its embassy and urged all Americans to leave the world's seventeenth geographically largest nation while its oil production fell to new lows.[4]
Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Libyan refugees fled by boat to southern European shores, with hundreds drowning in the process. Once they reached dry land they were subjected to racist attacks, and the rapid formation of the anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany (AfD), now the third largest political party in Germany.

I agree with Steven - the Russians didn't steal the election, they had not expected Hillary to win.
Sure, they were involved - Ukraine (etc) is the reason, no time to detail that here. And yes
there were all kinds of links to the Russians (who certainly did not think Hillary would win)
but my money is on the fnancial links with Russia which thought it had bought Trump, nothing to do with the election, lots to do with trade restrictions, etc.

Whether or not the Russians colluded with the Trumpites, Hillary could have won if she had run a decent campaign. Which she did not, beginning with her idiotic, DLC-brand, "Stronger Together" slogan. (Where is a Democratic Frank Luntz when the Democrats need him?) But of course there were all the "Killary" folks on the Left who would have been very unhappy if that had happened, no? We surely would have had a nuclear war by now, no? (Of course, we still might have one with the DPRK if Trump pushes them far enough, but that's another story.) For them, of the two candidates who could actually win,Trump was the preferable alternative, no?

That Russia somehow robbed Hillary Clinton of the presidency is as stupid as saying global warming is not happening. It really shows that Democrats can be just as honest and reality-based as FOX News.

I give you a Hell, no. The Russia thing may not be what it is being blown up into- but that relationship is uniquely and consistently positive in a way that short of family members, no person has enjoyed with Mr. Trump.
It's past time that real investigations were commenced into the very real voter suppression, vote shaving, and un auditable systems that easily would have accounted for the difference in an election that was decided by 107,000 votes, then put into the Republican handicapping system to give Mr. Trump the "win"

Wouldn't you rather that Congress investigate Trump for the real metoo thing, rather than the fake Russia thing? Give me an "amen."
